Justin Carr aka DJ NITSUJ was born in Seattle, and grew up in the quiet rural side of east King County Washington.
By the age of 5 he was drumming on pots and pans or whatever he could get his hands on, playing tennis rackets as guitars and memorizing lyrics heard from songs on the radio.
His love for music at an early age would be a sign of things to come.
By 16 he was in a band called MAO as the bass guitar player, and sometime soon after he went to an underground party and that was it.
1 year later he traded his guitar and amp for turntables and a mixer and began DJing.
DJ NITSUJ is one of the founding fathers of the Seattle drum and bass scene.
He started DJing in 1994, playing tribal acid techno and electro breaks.
Then, a friend played him some Dreamscape party mix tapes with jungle and hardcore and he fell in love with a new sound.
In 1996 he met up with Zacharia and became a member of the 360 BPM DJ crew.
Together they brought the sounds of the UK underground to street level at an all ages club called Vinylized.
This was very new to Seattle and sparked a huge following and a demand for their sounds to be heard at clubs and underground events.
Since then he has held residencies at clubs like the Baltic Room, Showbox, The Deep Down Lounge, Watertown, Bonzai, Aristocrats, Noiselab, The Last Supper Club, Groovetech, and the Legendary NAF studios.
